Sugar Creek Health Management began providing in-house therapy services to the Quality Life Services facilities in March 2004. Led by Leslie Perry, Sugar Creek Health Management provides onsite physical, occupational and speech therapy to both residents and outpatients. Sugar Creek Health Management's variety of therapeutic services include fall prevention, home assessment prior to discharge, bed mobility and gait training. Each of the Quality Life Services rehabilitative facilities also provide vital stim, which is daily mild electrical stimulation applied to vocal cords of dysphagia sufferers. This treatment has been very successful in avoiding the insertion of feeding tubes.

Our Physical Therapy (PT) Department is available for individualsrehab5 recovering from a stroke, bone fractures, head injury, back ailments, a heart attack or other debilitating conditions.

Physical therapy can help those suffering from pain, weakness, reduced endurance, loss of balance or motion, decreased ability to function or move, or difficulty with daily activities.

Physical therapy aims to return individuals to normal activities, increase strength, reduce pain, improve balance and endurance, teach safe lifting and movement strategies and establish exercise programs.

Our Physical therapy team will help families and caregivers to understand the individual's strengths, weaknesses and limitations, as well as recommend assistive equipment and instruct safe assisting movement and positioning. Residents and family members will be trained in specific exercise programs and advised how to set up modified living environments.

Our Occupational Therapy (OT) Program, caters to individuals recovering from arthritis, stroke, trauma, dementia, head injury and other debilitating conditions.

rehab6Occupational therapy aids individuals experiencing difficulty with eating, dressing, using the restroom, bathing, preparing meals or tending to a home. Occupational therapy teaches the use of adaptive techniques and equipment to overcome physical disabilities, reduce the effects of arthritis and maintain normal joint movement in arms and hands. OT also teaches strengthening and coordination exercises as well as transitional skills.

Our highly qualified Occupational therapy team will help families and caregivers to structure the living environment to make it the most successful and productive for the rehabilitating individual, learn how to break daily activities into small steps and encourage the individual to try new skills for maximum independence.

Sugar Creek Health Management's Speech Therapy Programrehab7 caters to those suffering from a stroke, head injury, ALS, multiple sclerosis, neck or throat surgery, deafness, dementia and other conditions.

Speech therapy can help those experiencing difficulty with memory, decision-making, swallowing / eating, understanding others, word finding (finding the right word or saying exactly what is meant), orientation and speaking clearly.

Our Speech Therapy Department identifies strategies for remembering past and upcoming events, breaking down and organizing information to ease decision-making, finding ways to help maintain mental orientation, learning new ways to communicate when experiencing word-finding problems, developing listening strategies and understanding the muscles used in swallowing and, thus, establishing the best diet.

Sugar Creek Health Management continues to grow both in the size of therapy staff and the number of residents rehabilitated and also in the breadth of services. For more information about our therapy services, contact Leslie Perry at (724) 431 – 0770, extension 2114.
