About Personal Care
Quality Life Services has seven locations and more than 325 beds providing personal care services across Western Pennsylvania. Choosing the right personal care home (PCH) for you or a loved one has many variables and can be difficult to do. The experts at Quality Life Services are there to guide you through all the important decisions around proximity to family, visitation options, size, costs, and so much more.
Our personal care homes provide shelter, meals, supervision and assistance with personal care tasks. These facilities usually cater to older people, or people with physical, behavioral health, or cognitive disabilities who are unable to care for themselves but do not need nursing home or medical care.
What else does a Personal Care Home provide?
While available services vary by company and are based on the individual needs, here are some typical tasks PCH include assistance with:
Eating/Drinking
Walking/getting in and out of bed or chair
Toileting/bowel and bladder management
Bathing
Personal hygiene
Arranging for and managing health care
Making/keeping doctor's appointments
Assisting with or administering medications
Doing laundry
Arranging for transportation
Shopping/managing finances
Using the telephone/writing letters
Caring for possessions
Participating in social/recreational activities

Getting and caring for seasonal clothes
Personal Care or Assisted Living?
The difference between personal care and assisted living can be confusing.
The primary difference is that if residents in a personal care community require health care services, formerly known as skilled nursing, they would have access to a health care center within the organization.
An assisted living community has no health care center, so additional services are brought to that resident. If a health care stay is needed, they will be discharged to a health care center.
We are here to help you decide what kind of care you or a loved one prefers or needs.
